An Update About Updates
April 3rd, 2013
New info coming soon... I've been making some changes to my location recording rig. Rethinking; re-evaluating. Early this year, I joined the Sound Collector's Club, a community dedicated to sharing specific field recordings among audio professionals; much like a sonic scavenger hunt. In light of this, I've been thinking more and more about the recording process, how to best approach it with the equipment I have, and how to plan for the future.
Taking a Look at Phase RotationIn this presentation by Pete Johnston, he demonstrates a rotating square wave, among other things. The oscilloscope shows a continuously changing waveform, but sonically, there is no difference. After a moment, I realized I was watching the square wave spin three-dimensionally. As it rotates in phase, we see a different view of the same wave. I put together a GIF animation, which can be seen here.
The presentation was from the 2012 Kyma International Sound Symposium, which is archived here. |
Shaping Suitable Surround Sliders (With Style)
The dirty work is done. In this blog post, an iPhone provides X/Y control of a surround panner in Reason.
Find Me On Twitter
I'm now twitting. Tweeting? I tweet. Is this the successful model for tweets? - [What I'm doing], [Something that happened], [Sarcastic comment] #wittypunchline

New Pages Updated
Check out Music (under Reel) to hear some of my recent uploads, and the Documents and Links sections (under Resources). They have been updated with useful and hopefully helpful information and downloads. I've also updated the Resume and Credits page so that you can see what I've been up to.
Coming soon, the Blog. I've been tinkering away and I'm almost ready to share.

Well, Hello.
Hi, there. I am Kyle Hughes, the sole human being of Kyle Hughes Audio. This is my website.
My intent with this is to have a place to post and blog all of my sound and audio adventures, as well as a myriad of other things that fascinate me about life.
I have dreams... big dreams. And lots of them. Here, you can find the manifestation of those dreams. You may also find, from time to time, my actual dreams, as I try to write them down and have several hundred recorded from the past few years. Now that you know me (don't you?), settle in and enjoy this nice blank page until I fill it with something new.
Cheers!
